One of the principle commitments of the the PMOPA Safety & Education Foundation’s Board of Trustees is to improve the safety record of the Piper M-Class fleet.

In an effort to further this obligation the PMOPA Safety & Education Foundation’s Board of Trustees has created the PMOPA SEF M-Class Elevate Training Program and a corresponding flight instructor recognition program, the M-Class Standardized Instructor Pilot (MSIP) Program.

In addition to elevating training in our community, the PMOPA SEF also emphasizes proficiency and strongly  endorses the PMOPA Master Aviator Program. This program honors those pilots that elect to participate in the PMOPA Master Aviator Program and rewards those pilots that progress upward to ultimately reach the highest level (PMOPA Master Aviator). M-Class Elevate Training Program

M-Class Elevate was created with cooperation from the Piper M-Class Owners & Pilots Association Safety & Education Foundation (PMOPA SEF) and volunteers from the community to provide a training curriculum, learning resources, and guidance to help pilots and instructors enhance their skills, knowledge, and judgment with the M-Class aircraft.

This program includes a comprehensive syllabus, training recommendations, and resources. The program will be further enhanced with an online education and administration system that will be developed for easy access and use. Instructors who demonstrate proficiency in training in the M-Class will have the opportunity to be recognized as “MSIP Instructors.” MSIP Instructors are committed to quality training. Through these efforts, we aim to improve the overall safety, proficiency, and experience within the community.

MSIP Program

PMOPA SEF created the M-Class Standardized Instructor Pilot (“MSIP”) Program to enhance the quality of training available to all Piper PA-46 (“M-Class”) pilots by recognizing and encouraging flight instructors who have experience and expertise in flying and training in M-Class aircraft. MSIP instructors will have access to PMOPA SEF Training Resources and PMOPA SEF M-Class Elevate Training Program, both of which promote consistent, high-quality training and flight operations. The PMOPA SEF Board of Trustees established the MSIP Program, and the Board reserves the right to alter, amend or discontinue the program at any time.

The program has four echelons for individual CFI recognition.

  • MSIP Training Center Instructor (TCI)
  • MSIP CFI
  • MSIP Gold CFI
  • MSIP Platinum CFI

MSIP Instructor Application

Qualified CFIs who wish to apply for MSIP CFI, MSIP Gold CFI, or MSIP Platinum CFI are encouraged to complete the on-line APPLICATION.

MSIP Training Centers

Additionally, the MSIP Program recognizes MSIP Flight Training Centers which provide instruction in at least one M-Class variant and utilizing more than one qualified instructor. MSIP instructors are required to follow the PMOPA SEF M-Class Elevate Training Program when providing training in M-Class aircraft.

Scholarship Program

PMOPA SEF recognizes the need to encourage aspiring maintenance professionals to join the Piper PA-46 (M-Class) maintenance community; and current professionals to remain in the Piper M-Class maintenance community.
